The First Glimpse
After a short ride on the Eurostar train, we were in the beautiful city of Paris. We stood outside of the station patiently waiting for our bus. I was so happy because I had just completed my first year of French at school, and I could read some of the signs outside of the station. When our bus pulled up you could feel the buzz of excitement in the air. After a short ride to the city, filled with language lessons by our our tour guide, we pulled up to our hotel. We had some time to unpack before the group met in the basement. There was a delicious tray of sweets and chips waiting for us. Of course, my buddy Ari was entertaining the group by singing Bruno Mars songs. I also found a new use for my money belt, a candy holder. Thankfully, the Rick Steves website recommended a money belt for traveling to Europe. I could put my phone, money, and candy in it for when I needed a little snack. After eating some very French refreshments, we were off to explore the city.

We took a nice stroll through Paris and ended up at a quaint little restaurant with delicious food. I had my first taste of French bread, and it did not disappoint! After a hearty, three course meal, our group walked to the Seine river for an after dinner cruise. It was stunning and we got to watch the sun set over Paris. At last, the day was over. We went back to our hotel for a good night's rest before a full day of exploring the next day.
