Saying Goodbye to Europe
We woke up early to catch our flight back home. It was much harder than I expected to leave. I was leaving my friends, who had become my second family. I was leaving Europe, somewhere I probably wouldn't be back to for a long time. Last but not least, I was leaving a piece of myself. A piece of myself that had left footprints in six different cities across the continent. I had learned so much from this experience. I learned things about myself, about others, and about different cultures and history. It was an emotional goodbye, but I knew I was returning home to my family and bringing many beautiful memories back with me.
Arriving Home
After a very long flight, we were finally back to North America. We had a small layover in Toronto, which was our final stop before returning home. After many hours of sleep, we touched down in the Indianapolis Airport. My mom was there waiting for Madeline and I. Seeing my mom for the first time in over two weeks was overwhelming, and I couldn't wait to tell her about all of the adventures we had been on in Europe. When I was finally home, in my comfy bed, I thought back to the trip I had just been on. It felt like a dream. A magical, enchanting dream filled with castles, waterfalls, and, of course, gelato.
