A Train Ride Away
The day started with another bus ride, which was filled with listening to my audio book, talking to my friends, and playing bus trivia. When we finally arrived, we took a train to Monterosso, also known as town five. We walked to our hotel, passing sandy beaches, clear blue waters, and rocky cliffs. We had some time in or hotel to unpack our bags and relax before our dinner. I unpacked my bags while thinking about how much fun Italy would be. The thought of swimming, hiking, and eating amazing food, with lots of carbs, made me ecstatic. Soon, it was time for dinner. I knew Italian food was great, but I was in for a true surprise that night at the restaurant.

My First Taste of Italy
All of the kids sat at one table, which was really fun because they had all become my best friends. We were first served fried pizza dough pockets, which you could stuff with different types of meat, cheese, or just eat plain. I could argue that the fried pizza dough was he best food of the entire tour. Then we were served Italian pizza, which is nothing like pizza in America. It's so much better! Finally, they came out with calamari, which I didn't think I would like, but was actually pretty good. Dinner was so fun with all of my friends. The evening was filled with laughter and amazing food. Even though our night seemed to be coming to an end after dinner, the fun was just beginning.
A Midnight Swim
While we were walking back from dinner, our assistant tour guide suggested a night swim. I thought that sounded great, so I rushed back to the hotel to get changed into my swimsuit. Taylor and I ran down the water and waded in. Although it was a little chilly, we quickly got used to it. It was amazing to be swimming in Italy, with a beautiful full moon hanging over the ocean. Our tour in Italy was just beginning, and it was already off the the perfect start.
