A Morning in Riomaggiore
Today was the beach day in Cinque Terre! Our plan was to go visit Riomaggiore, go for a hike, and then go to the beach. We set our alarm for 8:00, but we didn't get up until 8:30 because we were so tired. When we did finally get up we went to breakfast and then set off to Riomaggiore. The train was a bit tricky to figure out, but we finally arrived to our destination. We walked around for a while and explored the beautiful town. It looked just like it had in the pictures, with colorful houses, sparkling waters, and clear blue skies. We stopped to take a few pictures, looked in a few shops, and then decided to take the train to another town and hike. When we finally got back on the train, we decided that we were too tired to go for a hike, aka we missed our stop, and we went to the beach instead.

The Beach and Gelato
When we made our way back to Monterosso, we decided it was time for our first taste of gelato. As expected, it was fantastic and I knew I would have to stuff my face with as much gelato as I could before leaving Italy. We walked the rest of the beach and found Taylor, Ari, and Scarlet already there. We skipped rocks together and talked about our day. After relaxing on the beach chairs for a little while, it was time for our happy hour. The tour guides expertly set up a little array of Italian food for the group to enjoy. After talking with my friends, we decided that we wanted to go explore together. Aunt Molly kindly took us on a walk, where I got my second gelato of the day, and we found all of the hidden treasures of Monterosso. We walked up what felt like thousands of steps and eventually reached an eerily beautiful graveyard. We wandered around it and whispered about any discoveries we made. Then, we made our journey back to where we started.
The Last Gelato
When the sun started set, we met up with Taylor and her mom to go to a restaurant to watch the Italians play in the EuroCup. The air was buzzing with excitement and we found perfect seats to watch the game. I really got into it, cheering whenever they scored and groaning when they missed. Eventually, Aunt Molly and Madeline left to go back to the hotel, and I stayed with Taylor and her mom. After watching the game for a little longer, Taylor and I started to crave gelato. We walked across the street to a nice gelato place and I had my third gelato of the day. We finished watching the game at the restaurant and then walked back to hotel. I fell asleep quickly after an exciting, but exhausting day in Italy.
